Red Jacket 2016: Year in Review
By Lisa Kribs-Lapierre
As we near the close of 2016, we’re taking a moment to reflect on some really great things and accomplishments that have happened at Red Jacket Orchards this year.Sustainability, Whole Foods recognition and working with responsible vendorsFirst and foremost, to continue our efforts in and commitment to sustainable practices, we are incredibly proud to announce that in early 2016 we shifted to 100% green energy to power our production facilities and offices. Similarly, our friends over at Whole Foods Markets awarded us with their WFM Responsibly Grown title on all our apples and stone fruits sold in their markets, meaning we are one of a very select group of their partners meeting high standards of commitment to quality, human health, and the environment. In an effort to keep our values consistent and interwoven through all aspects of our business, we’ve placed a higher emphasis on working with vendors who also share our values. Under the leadership of Kelli Foster, RJO Director of Marketing, we teamed up with TGWstudio - a B Corp certified branding, marketing and product development studio based in Rochester, NY to help elevate the Red Jacket brand and get it in front of more people nationwide. They focus their work on positive social, environmental and community impact. Also cool, they are a 1% for the Planet member, meaning they donate at least 1% of their total revenue to nonprofits focused on environmental protection and sustainability. All new Black & Blue Stomp in the New York TimesIn another arena, we are grateful for the successful launch of our new Black & Blue Stomp flavor. The Stomp line is made up of our cold-pressed fruit nectar, made using only hand-selected summer fruits and NY State Apples to create premium, rich, full-bodied juices. We were humbled when The New York Times decided to write about Black & Blue! A refreshing choice for those warm summer months and an equally satisfying choice for these months when you want to hibernate until the spring blossoms return. The launch of a full line of premium cold-pressed cider, the first of its kindWe take your feedback seriously and when you, our incredible supporters and customers, asked for another cider choice, we got to work. This fall, we launched our brand new line of premium apple ciders, including the all new Honeycrisp Apple Cider, limited-edition Heirloom Blend cider, and our classics - Original and Spiced ciders. Each delicious flavor is all natural, 100% Apples, with no preservatives. Nothing Added. Ever. The new cider line launched in stores all across the east coast, including a first time appearance for Red Jacket in national retailer Publix. Our fans have truly spoken, as the full cold-pressed, unfiltered cider line has been a huge success this fall and early winter! Another point of pride? This month, The Democrat and Chronicle talked about our history and growth over the last year. It’s always humbling to be featured and to reflect on how far we’ve come. And it’s all thanks to you - our customers who demand cold-pressed, all-natural juices and pantry products made using clean energy. With that, we’re ready to hit the ground running in 2017 with new products, more purchase locations, and maybe a few other big announcements! We thank you for your continued support and look forward to our collective 2017 adventures.
