At Fall Fest 2014, children were turned into animals and fed cider donuts, as adults sampled bacon-flavored cheese, Finger Lake Wines and hard cider produced from Red Jacket Apples. This year Red Jacket Orchards ended a successful harvest season with a bang! Fall Fest 2014 was a huge success, and Red Jacket wants to thank everyone who participated. October 11th was a chilly day, but the sun held out and warmed the festive activities outside. At the far end of the lawn there was a petting zoo that housed goats, sheep, llamas, ducks, bunnies and even a chicken that laid an egg! Children enjoyed pony rides around the flagpole and fed the endlessly hungry brood of critters. On the other side of the sidewalk, children turned into scary zombies and beautiful butterflies- amongst other creatures- with the Face Painting Lady, Melody Wilkinson. Next to the Melody, more painting ensued as everyone decorated their pumpkins with paints and glitters and other sticker materials. On the porch the Tyler Pearce Band serenaded us with their original music, as well as some classics. Red Jacket Co-Owner, Brian Nicholson, signed copies of his acclaimed cookbook, Fruitful, and cups of hot cider greeted visitors. The Red Dove Tavern catered the event and provided tasty finger foods that featured salmon and beef creations. Lining the store our visiting vendors sampled their products and cultured us in the stories of what made their products so special. Next to the apple cooler the Apple Station set up a special treat of freshly made cider donuts. Visitors witnessed the making of cider donuts as the Apple Station whipped up the batter for the donuts in front of us. It was a delicious goodie for everyone to take home in their own little baggie. Everyone at Red Jacket Orchards had a blast at Fall Fest 2014, Brian Nicholson stated that he, “saw smiles from everyone from the time the doors opened until the very last hour.” This is a true testament to Fall Fest 2014, and proves that this years event was a success.
